The spirit of Deepavali shone brightly at Taman Jurong Zone E on the evening of 8 November 2025, as residents, volunteers and community partners gathered at Block 338 Tah Ching Road Multi Purpose Hall for a vibrant celebration of culture and togetherness. Organised by Taman Jurong Zone E Residents’ Network in collaboration with Civilians Association Singapore and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities, the event welcomed around 350 participants from diverse backgrounds.

The programme then came alive with a lively line up of performances. Fourteen line dancers, along with Chinese, Indian and Malay singers, filled the hall with music and energy. Audience members enthusiastically joined the dancing and singing, proving that joy transcends language and culture. As one participant reflected during the evening,

“When people celebrate together with open hearts, differences disappear and community becomes stronger.”

The event was graced by Guest of Honour Mr Shawn Huang, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance, and Advisor to Jurong GRC Grassroots Organisations. In his address, he highlighted the importance of community initiatives that bring people together. Mr MP Sellvem also spoke about the significance of sustaining such celebrations that strengthen unity and mutual understanding.

A special moment of the evening was the presentation of appreciation awards. Civilians Association Singapore was recognised for 15 years of collaboration in supporting the Deepavali celebrations at Taman Jurong Zone E, while Thye Hua Kwan Active Ageing Centre was honoured for its continuous partnership and support.

The celebration also extended its care to the wider community. Grocery packs were distributed to 100 families at the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities entrance, reflecting the festival’s deeper message of generosity and compassion.

With more than 90 percent of attendees being non Indians, the event demonstrated how cultural festivals can bridge communities. The evening concluded with prize presentations, a lucky draw and continued performances, leaving participants with a renewed appreciation for the power of unity, culture and kindness.
