On 16 August 2025, Civilians Association (Singapore) in collaboration with the Singapore Silent Heroes Alumni and HCSA SPIN hosted the Clay World workshop at Block 4, 1 Lorong 23 Geylang. The event brought together 30 participants, including single-parent families, with the support of eight SSH volunteers, three instructors, and three HCSA SPIN volunteers. True to CAS’ vision of fostering strong family bonds and nurturing community connections, this creative workshop provided a hands-on platform for families to engage, collaborate, and express love through art.

The morning began with volunteers assisting in setting up tables, chairs, and art materials, ensuring each family had a dedicated space. Instructors prepared air-dry clay for initial designs and demonstrated techniques on rolling, shaping, and painting the clay. Families were encouraged to create personalized items such as SG60 fridge magnets, earrings, necklaces, and badges. Children and parents worked side by side, strengthening communication and teamwork while expressing their creativity. Once the clay was shaped, families painted their creations, adding a personal touch that reflected their unique bond.

Participants expressed immense joy in collaborating on these tactile projects. One parent remarked, “This workshop allowed me to connect with my child in a way that words cannot capture; building together truly strengthened our bond.” Such feedback underscores the core mission of CAS – to create meaningful experiences that unite families and foster stronger, resilient communities.

By providing an interactive environment that encouraged collaboration, patience, and shared creativity, the event not only strengthened familial relationships but also empowered volunteers to witness the transformative impact of small acts of engagement. CAS believes that nurturing these moments of connection is vital in building a society where care, empathy, and love flourish.

This workshop allowed me to connect with my child in a way that words cannot capture; building together truly strengthened our bond.

Clay World: Bound by Love, Built by Hand exemplified CAS’ commitment to enriching lives through shared experiences, demonstrating that even simple, hands-on activities can leave lasting impressions. Through this initiative, families walked away with tangible keepsakes and invaluable memories, reinforcing the notion that meaningful connection is the foundation of a thriving community.
