Let’s Spread Love This Ramadan: A Morning of Compassion and Service
23 March 2025 • 4 mins read

In the spirit of Ramadan, a time centred on compassion, reflection and service, Civilians Association Singapore continues its commitment to uplifting communities through meaningful ground-up initiatives. “Let’s Spread Love For This Ramadan” was a heartfelt outreach programme that brought together volunteers, partners and beneficiaries to create tangible impact where it mattered most.
Held on the morning of 23 March 2025 at Marsiling, the initiative was organised by Singapore Silent Heroes Alumni in collaboration with Reach Out. Thirteen dedicated volunteers gathered with a shared purpose to serve residents with humility, care and respect. The programme began with a briefing and coordination session, setting the tone for a morning rooted in teamwork and empathy.
The first phase of the activity focused on the distribution of Ramadan grocery packages. Volunteers worked closely with Reach Out to carefully lay out essential food items, guiding beneficiaries through a dignified and organised mini grocery selection process. This approach ensured that every resident was able to choose items according to their household needs, reinforcing CAS’ belief in empowering communities rather than simply providing aid.
Following the grocery distribution, volunteers proceeded with the pillow exchange programme. Forty pillows were replaced across thirty residents’ homes, offering comfort, care and a renewed sense of well-being. For many beneficiaries, this simple act carried deep meaning, reflecting the warmth and thoughtfulness behind the initiative.
One volunteer shared a reflection that captured the essence of the morning:
This initiative reminded us that true service is not measured by the scale of what we give, but by the dignity, care and compassion with which we give it.
This sentiment echoed strongly throughout the day, as volunteers witnessed first-hand how small acts of kindness could make a lasting difference.
Beyond material support, the programme fostered human connection. Volunteers listened, engaged and offered encouragement, reinforcing CAS’ mission to build inclusive, caring and resilient communities. The experience left participants with a renewed appreciation for collective service and the power of collaboration.
Civilians Association (Singapore) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Grace Chuah, Singapore Silent Heroes Alumni Committee Member and Founder of Reach Out, whose leadership and dedication made this meaningful initiative possible. Together, this Ramadan outreach stood as a reminder that when communities come together with purpose, compassion becomes action.
