To strengthen family bonds and reflect the SG60 celebration, Mediacorp Tamil News and Current Affairs recently organized a dinner event titled 'Namma Kuttam'.
The Singapore Civilians Association, in partnership with Mediacorp News, organized the event. In addition to promoting social unity, the event also sought to increase intergenerational bonds. Nearly 400 family members shared their stories on Saturday (July 12).
Dinesh Vasudas, Deputy Minister of Culture, Social Affairs, Youth and Human Resources, attended the event as special guests along with his wife.
The event, held at 'The Chevrons' complex, featured dance and song segments, including a performance by renowned local singer and composer Shabir.

“Family is like the foundation of our society. News serves as a bridge for these connections and cultural elements to flourish across generations,” said N. Gunalan, Head of Tamil News and Current Affairs, Mediacorp.
“This program highlights the importance of families. If families are strong, society will be strong,” said Deputy Minister Dinesh Vasu.
Housewife Nagaratnam, 70, who attended the event with her sister, said that she was able to spend quality time with her sister through this.

“This is the first time I have attended such an event. The event was designed to entertain not only the elderly but also the young. It is very special that this event was organized with families in mind,” said Naveen.
